Borough produced a below par performance against a physical Chickerell side, in a game which ended in stalemate at Weymouth College, but the Hornets could have secured victory in the final minute when they were awarded a penalty but home keeper Ashley Weeks saved well from the spot kick leaving the draw a fair result for both sides.

Played on a very soft and bumpy pitch, Borough were slow to get going and the home side came close to opening the scoring after only three minutes when Steve Tricky was forced to head a shot from a corner off the line. On nine minutes Borough were stretched by a quick counter attack down the right and the ball was squared to a home striker in space, but his final shot was well wide.

And Borough were nearly undone again on 14 minutes when a defensive error gave a home winger the chance to whip in a cross from the left, but Andy Knights did well to divert the ball to safety.

Borough's first clear chance fell to Rodrigo Pons on 17 minutes who shot over from 25 yards out, but at the other end Knghts had to be quick out of his area to clear a through ball with a home striker bearing down.

The game was spoilt by a number of niggley fouls and the Hornets really only began to get their passing game together in the final five minutes of the half when Danny Gibbons teed up James Pinder wide on the left and his low shot from a tight angle just fizzed past the far post. And just before the break Ross Mills sent in an angled ball across the area and Joe Toghill just failed to get his head to the cross to steer it home

Half Time 0-0

Borough continued to retain the initiative after the break as immediately from the kick off Pinder latched onto a defensive error down the left and got in a shot from the edge of the area, but a defender was across quickly to divert the ball wide. However Chickerell also came close on 50 minutes with a shot on the turn which went narrowly wide.

Although not unduly troubled, Borough reverted to soaking up the majority of pressure, but as the half progressed the tide began to turn and on 67 minutes a corner came out to Danny Gibbons on the edge of the area but he saw his powerful drive headed off the line by a defender.

However the best chances still fell for the home side and on 76 minutes Knights did well to block a shot with his legs, while Tricky twice had to clear under pressure in the Borough area. But as in the first half, Borough showed more urgency in the final minutes as Paul Harding brought on Sean Gallagher and Ryan Moore to add fresh legs to the side.

And it looked to have paid off two minutes from time as defender Scott Henley stuck out a hand to divert a cross in the area and the referee had no hesitation in awarding the visitors a penalty. Tricky stepped up to take the spot kick, which Weeks did well to get across and block, but Gallagher was first to the loose ball and his angled drive beat the gloveman, only to see Henley make amends for conceeding the penalty by clearing the ball off the line, leaving both sides with a share of the points.
