Following two consecutive draws, Borough chalked up their first win of 2010 against a young Bridport side, however having stormed into a four goal lead within an hour, the Hornets lost their way in the final 30 minutes, allowing the Bees to pull back two goals which took the shine of what was otherwise a fine performance.

Borough had the best of the opening exchanges but had a let off on 6 minutes when a visiting striker latched onto a poor back pass and although Jakub Malara did well to block the initial shot, the ball cannoned back into the path of the forward who shot wide with the goal at his mercy.

However the majority of the action remained in the Bridport half and the pressure finally paid off on 18 minutes when Adam Watson sent in a low cross from the right which Martin Sault tucked home at the far post. 1-0.

On 27 minutes Borough were denied by a fine double save from Bees keeper Mark Tozer as he first parried a stinging drive from Martin Warren before recovering quickly to hold a close range effort from Matt White on the rebound.

Borough though increased their lead three minutes later when Will Robinson floated over a cross from the right and Sault rose at the far post to place a perfectly weighted header past Tozer. 2-0.

And with Borough continuing to dominate, their third goal came on 37 minutes when Robinson converted from a tight angle, firing in a blistering low drive from the right into the bottom left hand corner of the net. 3-0.

Half Time 3-0

To their credit, Bridport stepped up their game after the break and on 51 minutes Malara did well to palm away a low drive at full stretch, while three minutes later the Borough keeper was again in action, saving with his legs to deny Chris Symes.

However on 59 minutes Borough increased their lead when Robinson floated in a high corner from the left and White was on hand at the far post to head home. 4-0.

A Bridport breakaway saw them pull a goal back on 64 minutes when Roger Cummings connected to a right wing cross at the near post with an overhead kick which bounced over Malara and sneaked just inside the post. 4-1.

Most of the attacking football still came from Borough without the Hornets creating anything to trouble Tozer, but the complexion of the game changed on 83 minutes when Ben Clarke was sent clear through on goal and he lifted his shot over the advancing Malara to reduce the deficit to two goals. 4-2.

From a position where they were cruising to an easy victory, Borough suddenly had to revert to some frantic defending in the final minutes as the visitors saw the chance to get back in the game. And the situation could have been even worse had Clarke not have been denied by the linesman's flag after he broke clear through on goal again on 87 minutes.
