Dorset Premier League - Edgar Maidment Charity Shield
Saturday 8th August 2009

Extracted from Dorset Echo Report

Borough lifted the Dorset Premier League Charity Shield for the second time after a dominant performance against the League Champions and Cup holders. Three goals inside the first 35 minutes stunned the Blues at their Grove Corner ground and effectively ended the contest before half-time.

Portland looked disjointed early on, while in stark contrast, Borough peppered gloveman Ellis Cox and it was no surprise when they opened their account on 14 minutes through Dominic Allen.

Just before the half-hour mark the Hornet's lead was doubled when James Pinder pounced on a loose ball in the penalty box before cleverly steering his shot across Cox. The Blues looked shell-shocked and five minutes later found themselves deeper in the mire as Martin Warren’s 20-yard firecracker arrowed into the top corner.

Half Time 0-3.

Portland striker Matt White reduced the deficit straight after the restart after muscling his way through the Borough defence before steering the ball past keeper Jakub Malara. However Borough netted a fourth, thanks to another superb strike from Warren to secure the trophy from the previous holders.
