A draw was not the outcome either side would have wanted going into this match as both clubs struggle to stay on the heels of the league leaders, but it was a fair result in a game where the defences dominated and goal scoring chances were at a premium.

Paul Harding introduced three new players onto the bench with Matt White and Jason Thomas arriving from Hamworthy United, and former Borough top scorer James Stickland returning to the club, while James Pinder has made a return to Bournemouth Poppies for another crack at Wessex League football.

The visitors had the best of the early exchanges, with Borough's first attack on goal coming after 8 minutes which resulted in a goal mouth scramble before an overhead kick from Kenny Strong was smothered by Mike Neish in the visiting goal. Three minutes later Martin Warren fired in a low goal bound drive from outside the area which was deflected wide off a defender and Maciej Jaksztas was also denied by Neish who was out quickly to turn his shot wide.

Weymouth however came close on 18 minutes when they broke clear down the right, but the final shot from Ryan McKechnie was blasted high & wide. Five minutes later another chance fell to Borough when a free kick from the right was headed clear only as far as Patrick Murray on the edge of the area, but his low shot creeped narrowly wide.

Borough had Jakub Malara to thank on 28 minutes as the keeper made a superb save at full stretch to palm away a long range effort and further Weymouth pressure saw a close range shot from Shane Evans rattle the crossbar.

Half Time 0-0

A slow opening 15 minutes of the second half sparked into life when Murray did well down the right to carve out space to send in a floating cross which Martin Sault got his head to at the far post but steered the ball narrowly over.

With White and Stickland both introduced up front, Borough stepped up their forward threat and a good build up on 70 minutes saw Stickland centre to Sault whose first time shot cannoned off a defender and Adam Watson got on the end of the rebound but shot over. A minute later another fine cross from the right by Murray fell to Stickland whose overhead kick dropped narrowly wide.

Further Borough pressure saw the Hornets force three successive corners, but from the final flag kick Weymouth countered with a quick break away down the left and fed the ball to Jamie Sibley on the overlap, who cut inside, and was only denied by Malara who made a reflex block with his legs.

After Borough had looked the better of the two sides for most of the second half, it was the visitors who appeared more likely to break the deadlock as the game moved into stoppage time, and the Terras came close seconds from the final whistle with a close range shot which home supporters were relieved to see clear the crossbar.
