Sturminster Marshall 0 Poole Borough 8
Tuesday 17th August
Scorers : Alan House, Alan Fooks 3, Winston Buckfield,
Paul Morrell, Graham Freeman, Dave Oldroyd

Borough made amends for Saturday's display with an assured performance. From the kick off Poole played some fine football. Alan House put Poole into the lead, closely followed by veteran Alan Fooks finishing off a good pass by deftly placing the ball past the keeper for the second.

Winston Buckfield, on his debut, looked very effective in midfield and came forward to score the third and from an indirect free kick touched on by brother Pete, Paul Morrell struck a low shot from 20 yards out to make it four at half time.

The second half saw more of the same, with Sturminster reduced to few attacks. Alan Fooks scored at the beginning and the end of the half to record his hat-trick with a Graham Freeman strike and Dave Oldroyd bundling the ball in from a corner, in between.

The only thing to mar the result was an injury to newly signed Gary Fooks which may result in him missing the start of the league programme.

Bisterne 5 Poole Borough 2
Saturday 14th August
Scorers : Jamie Russell, Pete Morrell

A disappointing result for Borough against the Bournemouth League side, Poole attacked in force but were caught on the break and punished a number of times.

The game, however resulted in the first ever goal for Poole Borough, and excellent strike for Jamie Russell. Pete Morrell got Borough's second, making amends for an earlier own goal.

Shaftsbury 0 Poole Borough 0
Tuesday 10th August

The first ever match for Poole Borough was an excellent work out against the full Shaftsbury Dorset Combination squad. The Morrell brothers Paul and Pete gave an assured display at the back, which allowed the opposition strikers few chances to trouble young keeper Jonathan Brown.

Up front for Borough, Alan Fooks worked well to create a number of chances, while his son Gary looked an excellent prospect at left wing-back.

The team was a blend of youth and experience and showed good touches against a side which was playing its fifth friendly. Borough slowed towards the end of the game, but still did more than enough to gain a creditable draw.
