Shaftsbury Reserves (0)0 Dorset County League Division 1 Saturday 27th November Scorers : Satterley 19; Arnold 21; Russell 44, 89; Collinge 90. In a game where Borough created numerous chances, they could well have ended with more than the 5 goals they did score. Shaftsbury, however played their part in keeping the total down with some good defending. Poole played a tidy passing game but their initial attacks failed to result in clear chances. Ben Thompson looked dangerous every time he received the ball on the left wing but his crosses did not find the forwards with the space to convert them. Scott Smith created the first good chance on 14 minutes, when he turned and ran onto a through ball, but the keeper smothered his shot. The deadlock was broken on 19 minutes when James Russell knocked a superb long pass into the path of Mike Satterley, who blasted the ball into the net. Two minutes later and Borough were 2 in front, as Paul Arnold launched a speculative lob into the box, and with both defenders and forwards fighting to get to the ball, it crossed the line without anyone else touching it. More chances came as Smith carved out another opening in the box, which the keeper blocked and Russell saw a blistering shot from 25 yards out cannon back off the bar. Shaftsbury were also producing chances and Dan Burton did well to keep out a low shot just inside his left post. Chris Collinge made his debut in an unaccustomed centre-half position, but looked assured at the back. The last 10 minutes of the first half saw chances for Thompson, Alan Fooks and Smith before on 44 minutes Russell again unleashed a shot from outside the box, which this time kept low and gave the keeper no chance as it flew past him and into the goal. HT 3-0 The second half produced more chances as Borough continued to play some excellent football. Satterley put one shot narrowly past the post and another just over the bar, whilst in between Scott Smith saw an attempt saved by the keeper. Shaftsbury on the other hand were limited to only a couple of opportunities which were well marshalled to provide Dan Burton with his third clean sheet in a row. Thompson was still causing problems on the wing and he drilled in a low cross on 68 minutes which Holdroyd did well to get a foot onto, but the ball came back off the post. On 80 minutes an excellent dribble by Thompson took him from the halfway line to the penalty box, but he was just unable to lift the ball over the keeper. As the ball bounced around the box, Fooks managed to get a shot in, which was blocked by the last defender. The Borough pressure continued, but it wasn't until the 89th minute that the score was increased when Russell picked up a pass outside the box, created an opening for himself and slotted the ball home. Deep into injury time, Chris Collinge had a header cleared off the line, but from the resulting right wing corner he headed home.
