Borough 1 Dorset County League Division 1 Saturday 16th October Scorers : Fooks 2 mins Poole should have come away with at least a point after dominating the game for long stretches, but the failure to convert chances lead to the second defeat of the season against a side also challenging for honours. Alan Fooks put Borough ahead after just 2 minutes and Poole should have scored more in a half where Weymouth didn't produce one real opportunity. HT - 0-1 Weymouth began to challenge more in midfield in the second half. They equalised after Ross Gulliver was caught in possession. The forward saw his shot deflect off the post and Dan Burton appeared to have cleared the ball, but the referee, located in the centre circle, overruled his linesman and decided the ball had crossed the line. Borough were struggling to defend corners and it came as no surprise when Weymouth converted one to take the lead. Poole came back, and both John Bancroft and Paul Morrell hit the bar before Winston Buckfield saw his shot cannon off the post. It wasn't however going to be Poole's day and, with Stourpaine beating Chickerell on an adjacent pitch, they have lost further ground on the leaders. Poole Borough : Dan Burton, Dan Cockwell, Ross Gulliver, Ron Denty, Paul Morrell, David Holdroyd, John Bancroft (Graham Freeman 80), Winston Buckfield, Scott Smith, Alan Fooks, Ben Thompson.
