Borough Man of The Match :

Borough dominated the game and but for missed chances and an excellent display by the Badger keeper would have surely posted up a record score.

The first goal came on 15 minutes when, after the keeper had scrambled away a Pete Morrell free-kick, Kieron Wall headed the resultant corner home. Alan Fooks had a chance to increase the lead but hooked wide after running on to a long ball from defence.

The second goal game when Dan Herrington drilled a low shot into the corner from outside the area on 26 minutes. Badger were defending resolutely but the Borough defence capably dealt with any attacks.

Badger's first chance came after Hebdon lost the ball on the half-way line but Alex Gunn blocked the oncoming forward and Morrell cleared on the line. Gunn then had to receive lengthy treatment for a knee injury. Borough scored their third on 37 minutes when after a goalmouth scramble Alex Gunn cleverly lobbed the keeper.

HT 3-0

The second half was only 2 minutes old when Wall scored from close range and 2 minutes later Fooks should have scored with only the keeper to beat but his shot was saved. With the points safe Andy Gunn was substituted, Coles coming on and Morrell taking over in goal.

After 50 minutes the Badger keeper tipped away Heffernan cross but a defender conceeded a penalty for handball. Tony White's penalty was well saved by the keeper, who then pulled off two good saves to deny Scott Smith. However he was then beaten when Smith touched a cross from Fooks over the line.

Dan Cockwell came on for Alex Gunn and scored his first goal for the club after 65 minutes when he shot home after good work from Wall. Two minutes later Fooks beat the keeper to a long ball and netted Borough's seventh. Morgan then came on for Wall and immediately made a good run down the left to set up Fooks.

Borough netted their eighth with ten minutes to go, Smith scoring from a narrow angle. Morrell was rarely tested in the Borough goal, but showed his competence when called upon to save from a long shot. The final five minutes saw constant Borough pressure and Coles went close with a volley after Cockwell headed on. The last goal game with a minute to go, Herrington crashing the ball home after several attempts were blocked by the overworked Badger defence.

Borough: Andy Gunn (Andy Coles), Sean Hebdon, Tony White, Pete Morrell, Tommy Heffernan, Kieron Wall (Chris Morgan), Alex Gunn (Dan Cockwell), Dan Herrington, Tony Diaz, Alan Fooks, Scott Smith.
