Scorers : Kieron Wall 73.
Borough Man of The Match : Pete Morrell

Once again Borough came up against a reserve side in name only, as Blandford fielded at least eight of their Combination side, and despite controlling the game for long periods, the visitors struggled to break through a well marshalled defence.

The initial exchanges were even, Tony Diaz shooting over the bar and at the other end a Blandford forward turned well in the area but shot wide. The best chance of the half came on 19 minutes when Tony White fought well to get clear of his marker on the left wing before delivering low cross into the box, which Alan Fooks got a head to but it was saved at full stretch by the keeper.

Blandford were quick to close down Borough, disrupting their usual passing game and limiting chances. Diaz should have done better as the ball was laid into his path by Fooks, but his shot sailed over the bar, and at the other end a home player broke through but shot wide with only Andy Gunn to beat. In the last minute of the half, Dan Cockwell got his head to a cross in the area and the ball fell to Scott Smith, who could only lift his shot over the bar.

HT 0-0

Borough opened the second period with a number of clear chances, Smith shooting just wide within two minutes, but Blandford also created openings and White had to clear for a corner under pressure. Against the run of play Blandford took the lead on 61 minutes, when they broke quickly after a Borough free kick into the area was cleared, and Andy Gunn was beaten to the resultant cross in the box, seeing the ball flicked past him and into the net.

With a mountain to climb, Borough pushed forward for an equaliser and it came on 73 minutes when a long ball forward was met with a flick on header from Alan Fooks and Kieron Wall was on hand to bury the ball past the keeper.

Borough continued to press for a winner, and within the last five minutes chances fell to Smith who just failed to connect to a cross and Diaz who met a deep centre from Dan Herrignton, but steered his header just wide of the post.

Poole Borough : Andy Gunn, Sean Hebdon, Tony White, Pete Morrell, Tommy Heffernan, Kieron Wall, Scott Smith, Dan Herrington, Tony Diaz, Alan Fooks, Dan Cockwell (Gary Fooks 77). Unused subs: Chris Morgan, Matt Smith.
