Borough Man of The Match : Chris Morgan

Borough stormed into the 3rd round of the Senior Cup, after an emphatic 8-2 home victory against Lytchett Red Triangle with both Alan Fooks and Scott Smith chalking up hat-tricks.

Alan Fooks opened the scoring for Borough on 7 minutes after latching on to a defence splitting pass from Chris Morgan, but Lytchett also created chances and were unfortunate to see a shot come back off the post.

Borough began to take control and after sustained pressure scored three goals in quick succession. On 31minutes Alan Fooks received the ball after Lytchett failed to clear and a pass into Scott Smith's path was duly converted. Two minutes later Alan Fooks latched on to a defensive mis-kick and placed the ball past the keeper and within a minute Gary Fooks ran on to a through ball and shot just inside the far post to take the tie away from the visitors.

Lytchett continued to battle, and pulled two goals back from a Jamie Edwards shot and a Lee Hallum penalty, after Tony white was adjudged to have handled. However, any thought Lytchett may have had of a comeback were ended by Alan Fooks just before the half time whistle when he sealed his hat-trick from inside the box after a left wing pass from Smith.

HT 5-2

Borough continued to dominate in the second period and Smith increased the score on 60 minutes with a far post header from a pinpoint Gary Fooks cross and on 66 minutes Tony White converted a penalty after Alec Gunn was brought down in the area by the advancing keeper.

With time running out, Smith completed his hat-trick with a spot kick after Morgan was tripped in the area but had two further chances, both attempts missing the target as Borough illustrated their dominance to the final whistle.
