Borough Man of The Match : Kieron Wall

Poole Borough gave their goal difference tally a big boost when they posted the club's largest ever winning margin to overwhelm a young Shaftesbury side at Upton Rec.

Dan Herrington started proceedings after only one minute with a tap in, following a Richard Hobbs cross which fell into his path via the keeper and crossbar. Kieron Wall looked dangerous every time he got the ball, and after two attempts went narrowly wide, on 15 minutes he collected a Pete Morrell free kick in front of goal and blasted his shot past the keeper.

A minute later Scott Smith increased the score when he met a deep left wing cross with a superbly placed volley just inside the far post. Andy Gunn did well to save with his chest during a rare Shaftesbury attack, but Borough soon increased the score further after the visitor's keeper could only block an overhead kick from Tony Diaz and Alan Fooks was on hand to nod in.

Wall got his second on the half hour when he was left unmarked on the penalty spot to head home a Hobbs corner and Morrell got the 6th two minutes from the break when his shot from outside the box took a deflection on its way in.

HT 6-0

Borough came straight out in the second half, and created a chance for Fooks who hit the bar, but Shaftesbury then had their best spell and after Gunn had to parry a shot, he was unable to do anything on 52 minutes when a long range attempt dipped over his head and into the net.

This just resulted in the floodgates opening, and Borough scored a further five goals in a scintillating 15 minute period. Fooks claimed his second on 57 minutes when a Tommy Heffernan free-kick took a deflection off his back to leave the keeper stranded and a minute later a Wall cross was diverted into the new by a defender. Wall collected his hat-trick on 61 minutes with a close range header from a Smith cross.

On 63 minutes Tony Diaz was on hand in the box to nod in the ball after a Herrington shot was deflected onto the bar. Smith chalked up the eleventh on 71 minutes when he steered in a low cross from Alex Gunn, but it took until two minutes from time when a Chris Morgan pinpoint cross was met with a diving header from Tony Diaz at the far post to score his second and the all important 12th goal to seal the record.

Poole Borough : Andy Gunn, Dan Cockwell, Tony White, Pete Morrell, Tommy Heffernan (Andy Coles 71), Kieron Wall, Scott Smith, Dan Herrington, Tony Diaz, Alan Fooks (Alex Gunn 62), Richard Hobbs (Chris Morgan 75).
