Borough fell to only their second defeat of the season away to a battling Weymouth United, who chalked up an impressive 4-1 victory against the league leaders. The game started well for Borough, who dominated the initial exchanges with Alan Fooks opening the scoring after only 5 minutes, tucking away a Scott Smith cross. Smith came close to increasing the score when an Alex Gunn cross was just deflected away before the striker could get his head to the ball. Weymouth started to create chances as the half progressed and drew level on 37 minutes when they winger was left unmarked on the fast post to volley in a deep cross. Just before the interval, Alan Fooks was unfortunate not to put Borough back in the lead when his close range shot from a Smith low cross came back of the bar. HT 1-1 Borough were undone in the first 15 minutes of the second period as Weymouth capitalised on the speed of their front men, scoring first on 48 minutes when a shot from inside the box went in off the bar and again 10 minutes later when a forward broke through Borough back line and shot low into the bottom corner of the net. In between though, Borough though they had a Penalty when Alex Gunn was felled by a clumsy tackle in the area, but the referee gave an indirect free kick which was teed up for Gunn who shot narrowly wide. Borough pushed forward in numbers looking for a way back and a couple of chances fell to Smith, who was unable to convert. At the other end Andy Gunn did well to push a low shot onto his post. As time ran out Matt Smith and Darren Abrau came on and looked lively, creating a number of half chances, but deep in injury time Weymouth sealed their victory in when a rare error from Andy Gunn saw his goal kick go straight to a home striker, who returned the ball into the empty net.
