Borough Man of the Match : Kieron Wall

Borough extended their unbeaten run to 17 games since the start of the season in a game where the Hornets excellent approach play was let down by their final touch and a stream of chances missed the target.

Borough could have been two goals up in the first 5 minutes as Alan Fooks and Scott Smith both put shots over the bar. The best chance of the half fell to Gary Fooks who somehow failed to connect to a low centre in front of goal, but the home keeper was also in good form, saving low down from Gary Fooks and blocking a Matt Bircumshaw strike with his legs.

Blandford showed they could be dangerous on the break and Dan Burton sprinted out of his goal to make a smart save when a forward broke through just before the break.

HT 0-0

On 58 minutes Borough finally opened the scoring from the penalty spot as Smith, playing his first game since October, ran onto a through ball but was brought down in the area by the home keeper and Kieron Wall stepped up to convert.

Borough continued to struggle in front of goal and further chances went wide before the home keeper somehow managed to stop an Alan Fooks strike after Wall and Smith had combined well to set up the chance.

Blandford created some anxiety in the visitors defence with their swift counter attacks, but Alan Fooks put Borough fans at ease four minutes from time with a superb finish, slotting the ball home from the narrowest of angles after being forced wide by the keeper.

With time running out, Smith was denied with a one handed save, but deep in injury time Borough got their third as new signing Lee Symes took the ball down the left wing and centred to Andy Coles, who picked his spot through a sea of defenders to score.

Borough: Dan Burton, Sean Clarke, Lee Symes, Kieron Wall, Craig Shanley (Andy Coles 65), Sean Hebdon, Alex Gunn (Andy Taylor 89), Matt Bircumshaw, Scott Smith, Alan Fooks, Gary Fooks.
