Borough fielded the same starting line-up for the fourth game running and despite struggling for a period in the first half to overcome the blustery conditions, eventually ran out 4-0 victors against Gillingham Reserves at Turlin Moor.

With the wind against them in the first half Borough were unable to capitalise on their good approach play and the best of the early chances fell to the visitors who forced keeper Dan Burton into a fine one handed save from a long range free kick.

Just as it looked likely that the teams would turn around level, Gary Fooks put Borough in front, latching on to a defensive clearance 25 yards out and lifting his shot over the stranded keeper. Within a minute Fooks had doubled his tally, as he ran onto a through ball on the left, and cut inside before unleashing a low shot.

HT 2-0

Borough looked a different side with conditions in their favour, and increased the lead early in the second half when Tommy Heffernan arrived at the far post to convert an Alan Fooks corner with a bullet header. The home side made sure of all three points on 56 minutes when Dan Herrington collected the ball in the centre circle and completed solo run into the box and checked before slotting a well paced shot into the corner of the net.

Further chances fell to Scott Smith, who saw two attempts pushed past the post by the visiting keeper, who also denied a chance from Alan Fooks. Gillingham did create one chance which went the wrong side of the post but Borough had the best of the remainder of the half and maintained their winning run since the start of the season.
