Borough Man of The Match :

Borough remain on course for a League and Cup double after cruising to victory in the local derby at the County Ground in front of a good crowd of over 150.

The first 20 minutes were even with both sides showing good approach play, but unable to provide a finishing touch. However as Borough began to apply the pressure chances fell to Matt Bircumshaw, with a shot which went agonisingly wide and Gary Fooks whose header forced a good stop from the home keeper.

With Borough beginning to get behind the home defence down both flanks a goal looked on the cards, but Scott Smith was unfortunate to see a close range shot blocked on the line and after running on to a superbly weighted pass from Kieron Wall, Alex Gunn' s low shot rolled just the wrong side of the post.

Just as it looked like the sides would turn around even, Borough were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area after a foul on Gary Fooks, and Dan Herrington's floated cross was met by the head of Wall to glance the ball in.

HT 0-1

Hamworthy opened the second period with some good attacking play, but were nearly caught on the break when Smith collected a through ball and back heeled into the path of Alan Fooks whose shot was pushed past the post.

The home defence were beginning to open up and following an earlier chance which went wide, Herrington made no mistake on 62 minutes as he ran through the middle, and fended off two tackles before drawing the keeper and shooting home.

Smith increased the score with a solo effort, stealing the ball off a home defender before taking his time before hitting a low shot into the corner. Shaun Clarke came on with 10 minutes remaining and made an immediate impact, winning the ball on the edge of the area before setting up Alan Fooks who lifted his shot over the advancing keeper.

In injury time a Hamworthy defender was penalised for handling the ball in the area and after the ref. (Mark Taylor from Poole) pointed to the spot, keeper Dan Burton stepped up and score his first goal for Borough, although he showed signs of needing to practice his celebrations!

Borough - Dan Burton, Jimmy Edwards, Dan Herrington (Lee Symes 71), Kieron Wall, Henry Simpson (Craig Shanley 80), Sean Hebdon, Alex Gunn (Shaun Clarke 78), Matt Bircumshaw, Scott Smith, Alan Fooks, Gary Fooks.
