The Hornets were two up inside five minutes as first Alan Fooks ran through to lift the ball over the keeper and then an Okeford defender diverted the ball into his own goal from a corner. The visitors undertook a desperate rearguard action with their keeper saving them a number of times, and despite numerous opportunities it took Borough a further 30 minutes to increase the score when Alan Fooks ran onto a perfect through ball to convert. Five minutes from the interval, Tommy Heffernan got the fourth from the penalty spot after the ball was handled on the line. HT 4-0 Scott Smith picked up a fifth goal immediately after the restart, only for the visitors to pull one back with a dipping shot. Again, as in the first half, despite almost constant pressure the finishing touch alluded Borough, until with 15 minutes remaining Alex Gunn cut in from the right to slot the ball past the keeper and just inside the far post. This was the signal for the floodgates to open, and three minutes later Kieron Wall headed an Alan Fooks corner goalwards and Will Owen put the finishing touch to steer the ball home. Dan Herrington scored the eighth with 5 minutes remaining after Smith nodded back a Gunn cross for the midfielder to convert. Gary Fooks finished the scoring with two goals in the final three minutes, the first when he followed up his own shot which cannoned back off cross bar and goal line to finish, and the second stealing into the 6 yard box to knock in a low cross from Sean Hebdon to seal Borough's 7th straight win since the start of the season. Borough : Dan Burton, Will Owen, Dan Herrington, Kieron Wall, Tommy Heffernan (Craig Shanley 75), Sean Hebdon, Alex Gunn, Matt Bircumshaw (Lawrie North 67), Scott Smith, Alan Fooks (Nashad Mohangee 78), Gary Fooks. |
