Borough and Holt fought out a highly entertaining 1-1 draw at Turlin Moor with Hornets 16 year old keeper Adam Nash picking up the plaudits with an inspired display on his home debut.

The game ignited from the kick off as Scott Smith broke through in the second minute but the visiting keeper came out quickly to block. On 4 minutes Holt were awarded a penalty after Shaun Clarke was adjudged to have handled in the area. Darren Vye stepped up and struck the ball low to Nash’s left, but the young keeper was equal to the shot and pushed the ball past the post.

Two minutes later Borough took the lead as Alan Fooks crossed from the left and James Edwards converted on the half volley from the edge of the area.

Jamie Wilson and Alan Fooks both went close for Borough before Nash denied Vye again on the 21st minute, pushing a low shot past the post after the striker found space on the right. Holt’s swift forward line continued to cause problems on the break and Tony White did well to clear a Vye cross under pressure.

The Bulls, however, drew level on the stroke of half time when Lee Bradford stole the ball off Sean Hebdon as he attempted to shepherd it over the line for a goal kick, and shot home from a tight angle.

HT 1-1.

The second half produced end-to-end football, with both sides pushing forward looking for the winner. Tony White came close for Borough early on after the visiting keeper failed to hold a corner, but he shot narrowly wide.

Paul Getley also went close with a shot from outside the area and Gary Fooks just failed to beat the keeper to a low cross from Alex Gunn.

At the other end Clarke headed off the line after Nash was drawn out of his goal and two chances fell to Moxham late in the game, but the striker shot wide on both occasions to leave honours even between the East Dorset rivals.

Borough : Adam Nash, Shaun Clarke, Tony White, Sean Hebdon, Paul Getley, Jamie Wilson (Matt Bircumshaw 68), Alex Gunn, James Edwards, Scott Smith, Alan Fooks, Gary Fooks. Unused subs : Andy Curtis, James Morrell.

Manager's Quotes..........

Holt manager Steve Norman said: "It was a pleasing result really. If someone had said on Thursday that we would get a draw then I would have taken it because we were missing several top players. "However, on the day it was a little disappointing that we did not win because of the way we dictated the game and also missed a penalty. Their keeper played well and made three top quality saves including the penalty "In the second halt it was end-to-end stuff hut we should have got the win. However, this time last year we would have probably gone there and got beaten with the injuries we had but we did not on Saturday because we have got a bigger squad now. Pete Staples made his debut and was excellent while our new signing Ian Kelly from Cobham Sports also had a good game."

Borough's manager Peter Morrell said: "I thought we bossed the game in the first half and all they offered was the long ball but we were lucky to get away with the point. We did not pass the ball well and our keeper Adam Nash kept us in it for most of the game. He is only 16 years old and has a good attitude and never misses training, In the second half he made an unbelievable save to push the ball away from the top corner. "Considering the players that they had missing I thought they did very well. There is not a more hard working manager in the league than Steve Norman and he will be greatly missed next year if he does finish at the end of the season. We are now five games unbeaten which is very pleasing."
