Borough Scorers : Reeks 69, Edwards 90.
Borough Man of The Match :
Mark Reeks

Borough scored in injury time to beat reigning champions Hamworthy Recreation at Turlin Moor.

A crowd of 122 saw early pressure from Borough force a succession of corners, but it was Recreation who took the lead when Chris Rigler rose to head home a corner in the 11th minute.  The same player nearly increased their lead minutes later, but after a fine run he scuffed his shot.

Borough keeper Paul Maitland was then forced to save at Alan Scott’s feet whilst at the other end Kevin Leonard was also called into action as he pushed Scott Smith’s shot past the post and then saved from defender Kieron Wall, who came upfield for free-kicks and corners.

HT 0-1

The second half was an end to end affair and Borough got their equaliser after 69 minutes when Wall headed on a free-kick to Mark Reeks, who volleyed the ball past Leonard. Both teams then had chances as Maitland palmed away a hard shot from Rigler and at the other end, a Reeks header from a corner was cleared off the line.

As the game looked to be heading for a draw Borough substitute Jamie Townsend found Smith who weaved his way past several defenders and hit a low cross that was turned in by James Edwards at the far post, much to the delight of the Borough followers. Borough have now taken maximum points from their first two games in the Dorset Premier League.

Borough – Paul Maitland, James Edwards, Mark Reeks, Shaun Clarke (James Morrell 88), Sean Leaton, Kieron Wall, Alex Gunn (Dan Herrington 60), Matt Bircumshaw, Scott Smith, Scott Arnold, Gary Fooks (Jamie Townsend 83).
