Borough Scorers : Alex Gunn 56, Matt Bircumshaw 63.
Borough Man of The Match :
Gary Fooks

Borough fell to their first home defeat in 20 months at the hands of Stourpaine, with the visitors establishing a three goal lead before the Hornets staged a fight back which nearly saw them force a draw in the final minutes.

Stourpaine set the early pace and took the lead after only 6 minutes when Chris Lyth latched on to a loose ball at the edge of the area and picked his spot through a mass of players to score. Alex Gunn could have put Borough on level terms on 16 minutes after the visiting keeper could only deflect a Scott Arnold shot into his path, but he shot over the bar with the goal at his mercy.

The home side were left to rue that miss, as Simon Freak latched onto a long free kick on 25 minutes and ran on to score Stourpaine's second. Gary Fooks came on and immediately made an impact, with a low shot which was cleared off the line. Fooks was again in the action prior to the break as he got down the left and sent over a cross collected by Kieron Wall, but the striker was unable to make space in a packed box to get in a clear shot.

HT 0-2

Within 10 minutes of the restart and against the run of play Jamie Guy put the visitors further ahead as Borough keeper Paul Maitland failed to hold his speculative cross and the linesman indicated the ball had crossed the line.

Borough pushed forward looking for a way back and Gunn made amends for his earlier miss on 56 minutes, as he cut in from the right and rode 3 tackles before neatly tucking the ball inside the far post. Minutes later, Borough were back in the game as Gunn again found space on the right and crossed for Matt Bircumshaw to head home.

The home side pushed forward in numbers looking for the equaliser and Fooks had a shot deflected and had a further attempt hit the bar. Stourpaine were also dangerous on the break and Maitland did well to block a shot form Guy after the forward broke through.

The home fans thought they had salvaged a point in injury time when a shot from Kieron Wall appeared to have crossed the line but the referee waved away Borough appeals and Stourpaine held out for their 3rd win of the season.
