Borough Man of The Match
: Dan Herrington

Borough weathered an early onslaught from the bottom of the table side before three second half goals saw them run out deserved winners at Turlin Moor.

Swanage had a strong wind in their favour in the first half and were unfortunate not to take the lead as they created a number of early chances. Adam Nash came out quickly on 12 minutes to smother the ball at a forwards feet but made a rare error three minutes later, when a cross from the by line beat him at the near post, however Dan Herrington was on hand in the goalmouth to hook the ball clear. On 21 minutes a visiting forward broke through again and although Nash took the sting off the shot it continued goalwards but Shane Milne was tracking back and did well to divert the shot wide.

As the half progressed, Borough began to create chances themselves and a five man passing move ended with a James Edwards shot blocked at the right hand post. On 30 minutes Shane Milne, making his first start for two years was stretched off with a serious leg injury after appearing to catch his studs as he turned to clear the ball.

Just before the break Matt Bircumshaw broke through on the right and was only denied by a well timed last ditch tackle.

HT 0-0

With the advantage of the conditions in the second period Borough stepped up the pressure, but not before Herrington made another important tackle to deny a home forward. On 53 minutes Borough sent a warning of what was to come as a Bircumshaw header came back off the bar and seconds later Scott Arnold was denied by the keepers legs

The Hornets however took the lead on 57 minutes when James Morrell had a shot deflected by Terry White in the home goal but the young forward was first to the loose ball and diverted it into the net.

Three Minutes later Jamie Wilson doubled the score as he arrived unmarked in the box to convert a free-kick from the right. On 70 minutes Bircumshaw extended the lead with a goal against his former club, running on to a superb through ball from Arnold before firing home at the second attempt.

The final 20 minutes saw a string of further chances for Borough and Arnold had the keeper well beaten with a long shot which came back off the post while Wilson found space on the left before delivering an angled shot which cannoned off the bar. Edwards also went close twice but Borough had done enough to extend their unbeaten home record to six matches.

Borough : Adam Nash, Shane Milne (Jamie Wilson 30), Tony White, Sean Hebdon, Paul Getley, Dan Herrington, Matt Bircumshaw (Aaron Woldon 73), James Edwards, Scott Smith, Scott Arnold, James Morrell (Alex Gunn 69).

Manager's Quotes..........

Swanage player-manager Terry White said: "I had to go in goal again because we could not get hold of Matt Mechan. We seem to switch off at times and it was slack defending that cost us. It is just one of the those things where people were not helping each other but I will stay here until the end of the season and I hope we can stay up. If Weymouth Sports get a win now then we would have serious problems."
