Borough Man of the Match: Sean Hebdon

Borough continued their roller coaster season as they recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory at Turlin Moor against a Bournemouth Sports side previously unbeaten in their last 5 games.

The Hornets created a chance in the first minute as James Edwards broke through, but shot narrowly wide and Sports also had an early opportunity as Adam Nash was called upon to block a header low down by his left hand post.

Further chances fell to the home side before Borough took the lead on 21 minutes when Sean Hebdon headed an Edwards corner goal wards from the edge of the penalty area and Alex Gunn arrived in the box to hook the ball past a sea on defenders congregated on the line.

Sports created limited chances but a forward almost broke clear on 34 minutes but was denied by a superbly executed double tackle from Sean Hebdon. The visitors also came close when a header from a corner went narrowly over.

Only a good block from Sports keeper Chris Edmunds denied Kieron Campbell after latched onto a defence splitting diagonal pass from Stuart Merrell. The Hornets doubled the score from the penalty spot on the stroke of half time after Steve Russell was upended as he ran into the area and James Edwards coolly dispatched the spot kick.

Half Time 2-0

Borough went further ahead 10 minutes after the restart when Blenman cut in from the left before knocking the ball into the path of Campbell who blasted home an unstoppable shot.

Steve Russell came close minutes later with a shot which came off the bar but Nash was forced into action again, making another good save palming the ball away after a forward latched on to a long free kick.

With the game opening up, Blenman put Borough further ahead on 71 minutes converting a low right wing cross with a simple tap in at the far post. Nash then made the save of the match, diving full length to hold a shot on the volley.

Campbell completed the scoring five minutes from time beating the offside track before tucking the all past the advancing Edmunds. There was still time for a final chance from Sports but Nash saved with is legs to claim his first clean sheet since the opening day of the season.

Managers Comments ..............................

Borough manager Peter Morrell said: "They did not worry us at all. We have been playing well of late but we have not been finishing teams off but we certainly did that on Saturday."

Losing boss Ian Bradley said: "We were not at the races. We did not turn up but there are no excuses. We had gone five without a loss before the game so I suppose this type of defeat was long overdue."
