Poole Borough (0) 0, Dorchester Town Reserves (1) 2. Elite Teamwear Dorset Premier League Saturday 24th April 2004 Borough Man of the Match: Martin White Borough completed their Dorset Premier campaign with a 2-0 reverse by title chasing Dorchester Town Reserves at Turlin Moor which in a season of consolidation will still guarantee the Hornets a top seven finish. Dorchester had the best of the first half and saw an early shot come back off the post, before Borough keeper Adam Nash did well to block a free kick at full stretch. The Magpies, however took the lead on 27 minutes when Anthony Warrington latched onto a quick ball forward before running through unchallenged to score. Borough did begin to make inroads as the half progressed and just before the break Tony White saw an in swinging corner headed off the line at the near post. Half Time 0-0 Borough came close to equalising after the restart when Paul Getley just failed to connect to a teasing lob into the box, but Dorchester were also unfortunate to have a goal disallowed on 65 minutes for offside. Nash again denied the visitors as he got out quickly to block at the feet of a visiting forward while the loose ball was blazed over the bar. However the young keeper could do nothing 10 minutes later when the ball fell to Adam Symes 25 yards out who hit an unstoppable shot on the half-volley into the top corner. Borough: Adam Nash, Martin White (Tommy Allen 85), Tony White, Scott Orchard, Shaun Clarke (Sean Hebdon 52), Paul Getley, James Edwards, Alex Gunn, Matt Bircumshaw, Kieran Campbell (Dan Cockwell 71), Danny Herrington. |
