This mid-table clash promised to be a close affair and so it turned out as Borough failed to turn their chances created into goals and went down to a solitary Steve Churchill strike in the first-half. When Borough did get on target they found visiting keeper Dan Claxton in fine form.

After 5 minutes Claxton saved a close range shot from Merrell after a clever back-heel from Blenman. Dorchester looked dangerous on the break and on 15 minutes a long cross from the right found Steve Churchill unmarked and with time to place his shot past Nash.

Borough came back but Claxton saved well from Russell and Merrell. As the first half closed Dorchester broke away but Martin Hillier took too long to shoot and was robbed of the ball.

Claxton was certainly the busier of the two keepers in the second half. Merrell's header from a corner flashed over the bar and Edwards had a close range shot scrambled away.

Despite the introduction of Smith for Merrell with 20 minutes to go Borough could not find the equaliser. Russell was putting in some good crosses from the left and had a good chance himself when a cross from Gunn fell to him but he volleyed over the bar.

In the last few minutes another chance fell to Blenman , but his glancing header from a corner went past the post. At the final whistle Borough were left to rue their missed chances as the only piece of clinical finishing on the day gave their visitors the points.
