Borough Scorers: Alex Gunn 43, Jamie Wilson 62.
Borough Man of the Match: Alex Gunn

Borough gained a deserved victory at Shaftesbury's impressive new ground with a battling performance. Dan Herrington returned to Borough after a short spell at Cobham Sports and replaced the injured Merrell.

On a good playing surface Shaftesbury had the strong wind behind them in the first half and they used the conditions to their advantage. Borough had problems in coping with the Shaftesbury front-runners and Hebdon headed off the line from a free-kick.

Shaftesbury took the lead on 27 minutes when a long ball found Skevington in space and he ran on to shoot past the advancing Nash. Skevington had further chances to increase the lead but headed over from a corner and then five minutes before half time was put through again, but Nash blocked his shot.

Borough's only serious attempt on goal so far had been a high lob from Herrington which the keeper held, but on 43 minutes Gunn received the ball just inside the Shaftesbury half and went on a determined run which took him past three defenders. As he reached the area he exchanged passes with Bircumshaw and hit the ball past the keeper for the equaliser.

Half Time: 1-1

Borough survived an early scare in the second half when Nash was forced to block a close range shot with his legs but then took control of the game. Gary Fooks came on for Martin White after 55 minutes and immediately hit the base of the post with a 20yard shot.

In the 62nd minute a Herrington shot was well kept out by the keeper and from the resulting corner Wilson scored from close range at the far post. Shaftesbury were forced to shoot from long range and Nash did well to palm one over the bar.

Five minutes from the end Borough got the ball in the net after a goalmouth scramble but the referee ruled that the keeper had been fouled. Shaftesbury had one final chance to share the points but the shot just cleared the bar.
