Borough Scorer: Jamie Holland 8.

Borough should have scored more than the single goal needed to defeat a hard-working Blandford side, but missed chances and a fine game by Blandford keeper Martin ensured that they could not relax until the final whistle.

An early goal on 8 minutes came when Tony White powered a defensive header forward and a defender miskicked giving Jamie Holland a chance to run at the keeper. His initial shot was blocked but the striker followed up to score.

Holland had a similar chance five minutes later but Martin made a good one-handed save. Blandford responded and Adam Nash made an equally good save from Freak's volley.

Borough had three good chances in five minutes but shots from David Perry and Holland went just wide as did a White header from Gary Fooks' cross. White then made a good tackle at the other end to deny Freak.

Half Time 1-0

Early in the second half Fooks had two opportunities when he broke though, but his shots were saved. Ben Truan came on for Danny Moore and within five minutes the substitute twice came close to increasing the lead, but he shot into the keeper's arms and then failed to connect with a ball that fell to him in front of goal.

Fooks again found space on the right, but his shot was saved at the near post. Borough had a scare when Blandford got the ball in the net with five minutes to go but the effort was ruled offside.

Both sides had chances in the final minute, but Holland and Freak both missed the target , whilst in injury time a long range shot from Freak was held under the crossbar by Nash. The win sees Borough climb to second-place in the table.

Borough: Adam Nash, Dan Cockwell, Tony White, Gary Fooks, Sean Hebdon, Dan Herrington, Danny Moore (Ben Truan 58), Jamie Holland, Davie Perry, Andy Coles, Matt Bircumshaw. Unused subs. Jamie Wilson, TBA

The Verdict ..............................

Winning boss Tony White said: "We still have a 100 per cent home record and that is now 11 clean sheets we have kept so I am very happy. We could have scored ten to be honest but their keeper made some great saves. We have got more grit in the team now and a lot more determination. We are now in second place which is the highest position in our history. If we can win again on Saturday then I will be a very happy man going into the Christmas break"
