Borough Man of the Match:
Adam Nash

Borough suffered a heavy defeat at Chapel Gate as they struggled to cope Sports rapid forward play and with some better finishing from the home side, the margin of victory would have been more comprehensive.

Early chances were at a premium but Sports came close on 18 minutes as Danny Herrington was forced to clear off the line and Adam Nash did well to tip a shot from the rebound over the bar.

On the half hour Derrant Blenman was denied by home keeper Steve Blandamer's legs after he latched on to a clearance from a corner, but a minute later Sports took the lead when a long forward pass found Scott Ferguson in space on the right and the forward ran through to score.

Almost immediately Borough nearly equalised when Ben Truan collected a poor Sports goal kick and fed Tony White through the middle but Blandamer did well to save the resulting shot. Herrington also came close for Borough after a good interchange with White on the edge of the area but his shot went just over.

However Sports increased the lead on 35 minutes when Borough lost the ball wide on the right and a swift cross into the box was met by Jon Marvin unmarked at the far post. Sports almost collected a third a minute later when the ball was given away on the left and another quick ball into the danger zone was steered over the bar by a home forward.

Another shot went narrowly wide for Sports after a goalmouth scramble and the home side also saw a header go just the wrong side of the upright. Just before the break Borough created an opening when Truan forces a defensive mistake and his resulting cross into the box was laid off by Blenman to Jamie Wilson but the shot went agonisingly wide.

Half Time 2-0

Adam Nash was in action again soon after the restart saving well to deny Ferguson. On 59 minutes a through ball from Sports saw two home players run clear of the defence but they took too long to get a shot in and the Borough back line recovered quickly to clear. Ten minutes later Borough were again caught on the break and with three players clear a goal looked inevitable but somehow the final shot went wide.

Those two missed chances looked ominous for Sports when Borough pulled a goal back 15 minutes from time when a long ball into the area was turned into his own goal by a defender. But there was no way back for Borough as two minutes later another break down the right resulted in a low cross being turned in by Ben Osborne at the far post.

With the gloom setting in Sports sealed their domination with a fourth goal when another defence splitting pass found substitute Sean Read in space and he made no mistake slotting past the advancing Nash.

Borough: Adam Nash, Matty Parkin (Scott Orchard 47), Tony White, Shaun Clarke, Sean Hebdon, Danny Herrington, Alex Gunn, Andy Barham, Derrant Blenman, Ben Truan (Alan Fooks 51), Jamie Wilson (Dan Moore 71).
