Borough travelled West to play Dorchester United at Sandringham on a fine sunny evening and in a tight match came away with a valuable three points to keep their ambition of a top three finish on track.

After a tentative start from both sides, Borough carved out the first real chance on 5 minutes, when Gary Fooks arrived on the blind side to steer his effort wide after good work from Jamie Holland. 11 minutes in and a quickly taken free kick from Tony White saw Sean Hebdon blast his effort over from 6 yards.

Dorchester then started to have a say in the game and good defending from Dan Cockwell averted the danger in the 24th minute and moments later and a shot from United went narrowly wide. Stuart Amey had to be alert in the 35th minute when another Dorchester move culminated in a shot going wide. Back came Borough with a deep corner being headed back across the face off the goal from White, alas no Borough player got onto the end.

Dorchester were unlucky not to take the lead in the 38th minute when the ball inexplicably bounced out from the line when to all and sundry it looked certain to end up in the Borough net after Amey had been lobbed. Moments later Borough took the lead when another quickly worked passage of play saw Andy Barham feed Hebdon whose shot was turned in by Matt Morris.

Things were to get better in the 42nd minute when Holland cut out a ball played from the home defence and his slide rule pass found David Perry who rounded the keeper to double Boroughs lead.

Half Time 2-0

The second half followed the same pattern as the first with borough looking to play the better football and Dorchester relying on the counter attack. In the 48th minute a free kick for Dorchester came to nothing while at the other end chances fell to Holland to increase the lead in the 57th and 68th minutes both from corners, however each attempt saw the Borough top scorer volley narrowly into the side netting.

Amey pulled off a great save in the 75th minute to deny Dorchester and once again he was quick to clear his area in the 82nd minute while for Borough Jimmy Edwards shot narrowly over a minute later.

With time running out Dorchester mounted a last effort and saw a shot blocked off the line by Hebdon, who then appeared in the referee's opinion to handle as he tried to clear his lines. Up stepped the Dorchester player to slot home the spot kick but Borough were able to play out the final minutes with no real alarm to secure a well-deserved victory.
