Borough Man of the Match: Adam Nash

Borough returned to the ground where they won their League Cup Semi-final tie the week previously and in another close match the Hornets failure to build on a first half lead as they struggled to cope with a strong breeze as punished as the Cherries forced an equaliser seven minutes from time.

Sturminster created an early chance with a long range shot deflected wide by Dan Herrington, but Borough thought they had taken the lead on 12 minutes David Perry was sent clear of the home defence by Andy Coles and the striker shot past the home keeper, but Jamie Holland was adjudged to have come from an offside position as he ran in to steer the ball home.

The home side pushed Borough back as they forced a series of corners before the Hornets finally managed to clear the ball, but at the other end Holland latched onto a through ball from Edwards but he was unable to keep his shot down as it bobbled on the seriously bumpy pitch.

The deadlock was broken two minutes before the break when Borough were awarded a free kick wide on the left wing and Gary Fooks stepped up to curl the ball over the heads of the home defence and just inside the far post from what looked an impossible angle.

HT 0-1

Ben Truan came close early in the second half when his shot went wide after being teed up by Fooks and the striker also drove narrowly over after a free-kick was headed into his path by Holland. But in between Borough were forced to clear a shot off the line after a cross fell into the path of a forward wide on the right.

As the half progressed, the Cherries began to carve out the better of the chances and a home forward was presented with a free header from a corner that went wide while another shot from a corner went just the wrong side of the post.

Sturminster deservedly drew level on 83 minutes when another corner picked out a Pete Skevington wide on the left who cut inside to make space before hitting a low shot just inside the left post. And the Cherries nearly snatch all three points three minutes from time with a well struck shot which Adam Nash did well to parry at full stretch.

This let off spurred Borough back into life and a minute before full time Andy Coles fought his way to the by line and crossed to Perry at the far post but the Borough striker was unable to get any power to the resulting header and the home keeper was able to collect to ensure his side took a share of the points.
