Scorers: Jamie Holland 2, 65; David Perry 64,
Alex Gunn 90.
Poole Borough extended their winning league run to seven games and maintain their 100% home record but visitors Stourpaine's performance was at odds with their position at the bottom of the league as they matched their hosts for over an hour before two goals in successive minutes sealed all three points for the Hornets. With both Gary Fooks and Shaun Clarke suspended, Borough introduced new signing from Brockenhurst Matt Morris into the starting line-up. Borough opened the scoring inside two minutes when a cross field pass found Jamie Holland on the right and the Hornets top scorer cut inside before rifling his shot past Sam Turner in the Sourpaine goal. Stourpaine however shocked the home support by drawing level on 13 minutes when Dan Brockway capitilised on a defensive mistake to take the ball through and coolly beat Adam Nash inside the right hand post. Just two minutes later Borough came close to restoring their lead when a Holland through ball found David Perry, but the final shot was deflected wide by Turner, who once more saved his side on 20 minutes when he denying Perry again with a fine block. There were anxious moments for Borough on 28 minutes as they struggled to clear a cross into the area before Nash did well to smother the ball, but this was just an interlude to further home pressure and Andy Barham jinked past three defenders to get into the area but was unfortunate to see the ball taken off his foot as he shaped to shoot. Turner made two further fine saves to deny Holland and just before the break a right wing cross from Herrington was headed on by Sean Hebdon into the path of Perry, but the off balance striker put the ball narrowly wide. Half Time 1-1 Borough continued to dominate after the break and a on 52 minutes a flick on from Perry found Holland who made space on the right before shooting narrowly wide of the far post. Holland set up Barham minutes later but Turner again did well to block the resulting shot. However Borough finally made the breakthrough on 64 minutes when they were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the area which Perry curled past the wall and although Turner got his hand to the ball he was unable to keep it out. A minute later Borough extended their lead as Perry stole the ball from a Stourpane defender on the right before centring to Holland to convert. Stourpaine came close to pulling a goal back on 80 minutes with a free-kick which went narrowly wide but a minutes later Borough were awarded a penalty when Barham was tripped in the area but Turner capped a superb performance by diving to his right to parry the spot kick from Tony White. Borough however did extend the margin of victory in injury time when Perry chested a cross into the path of Alex Gunn whose first time strike flew into the top left hand corner to consolidate the Hornets second position in the table.
