Poole Borough (0) 0, Swanage Town & Herston (0) 0. Dorset Premier League Monday 28th March 2005 Borough missed the chance to go top of the table after being held at home by a Swanage side who defended resolutely. Swanage created the first chance after 5 minutes when Lee James shot over after a corner from Jacob Harrop. Swanage keeper Jimmy Hollywood was then called into action when he blocked a David Perry shot and then he held a Tony White free kick. Another White free kick found Matt Bircumshaw but his shot went across the goal. Hollywood could not hold a low Perry free-kick but managed to get to the ball before any Borough forwards. Borough survived a scare after a mix up between Andy Barham and Dan Cockwell but the visiting forward shot wildly and missed the target. Borough's finishing was no better, and their best chance came just before half-time when Perry's shot was parried and the ball fell to Ben Truan in front of goal, but he shot over the bar from close range. Half Time 0-0 Borough attacked for most of the second-half but were unable to unlock the Swanage defence. Truan broke through down the left and his low cross fell to Gary Fooks but he shot wide. Jamie Holland was brought off the bench and he nearly broke the deadlock, but Hollywood did well to deny him. Late in the game a defensive blunder presented Dan Herrington with a chance but he was also unable to get his shot on target. The referee played eight minutes of stoppage time at the end of the game and Darren Abreu was brought on as an extra attacker but to no avail. Borough: Adam Nash, Dan Cockwell (Matt Parkin 62), Tony White, Gary Fooks, Sean Hebdon, Dan Herrington, Andy Barham, Ben Truan (Jamie Holland 56), David Perry, Matt Morris (Darren Abreu 89), Matt Bircumshaw. Unused sub. Mark Vincent. |
