Borough Scorers: Jamie Holland 22, Dan Moore 81.

Borough's six game unbeaten league run came to an end at Alvington Lane, as despite twice coming from behind they were finally beaten by a winner deep in injury time.

With Jamie Holland newly installed in the Borough front line and creating immediate problems for the home side, Borough came close on 5 minutes, Holland shielding the ball well on the edge of the area, before laying a pass into the path of Alex Gunn whose shot into the top corner was well saved by Gary Noone in the home goal.

Westland however took the lead on 11 minutes as they broke down the left and the resulting deep cross towards the far post was turned back into the path of Terry Brokenshire to slot home.

Almost immediately Holland came close to putting Borough level as he latched onto a forward pass from Andy Barham and managed to take the ball past the advancing Noone, but with the keeper forcing him wide he was unable to finish from a tight angle.

However Westland also carved out a number of chances and were only denied on 18 minutes by a superbly timed tackle from Dan Cockwell inside the area.

Matt Bircumshaw sent up David Perry on 21 minutes with an inch perfect through ball but the final shot was deflected wide by a defender. However Borough equalised from the resulting corner as Sean Hebdon met the cross with a downward header and Holland was on the line to steer the ball home.

On 29 minutes Bircumshaw forced a good save at full stretch from Noone with a low shot at the edge of the area after a well-worked four-man move from Borough. However just at the point when Borough were appeared to be taking the initiative, Westland restored their lead on 38 minutes when a quick break from defence resulted in a dangerous ball behind the Borough defence which was picked up by Ian Harris who ran through before beating Nash with a low shot from the edge of the area.

Half Time 2-1.

The second half started with chances at both ends, Holland getting down the right before shooting just past the far post and Nash being forced to save low to his right.

On 55 minutes Holland again found space down the right and sent a low centre into the 6 yard box and Derrant Blenman, on for the injured Perry, challenged keeper and defender for the ball but his shot was deflected away.

Time seemed to be running out for Borough when they forced a corner on 81 minutes and Blenman attempted an overhead kick which was blocked by Noone, but the loose ball fell to Danny Moore just off the bench, who made no mistake in slotting his shot past three defenders stationed on the line.

Neither side were content with the draw and a Westland found space down the left but shot wide and Gary Fooks saw a long drive from the right go just the wrong side of the upright and a later cross from Matt Birsumshaw was hacked cleared off the line.

However six minutes into injury time Nash, under pressure could only parry a Westland right wing cross and Harris drove the loose ball home to claim all three points for Sports.

Borough: Adam Nash, Danny Cockwell (Danny Moore 78), Tony White, Gary Fooks, Sean Hebdon, Danny Herrington (Shaun Clarke 68), Andy Barham, Jamie Holland, David Perry (Derrant Blenman 49), Alex Gunn, Matt Bircumshaw.

Managers Comments ..............................

Winning boss Peter Watts said: "I thought we played well at times and I was impressed with Poole as well- they are a good side. Both sides have not played for a month and it did show a bit but it was an entertaining game. I was a little disappointed with the goals we gave away but apart from that I was very pleased with the performance."

Poole Manager Tony White said: "That was our first league game for a while and we looked a bit rusty to be fair. Having no game for such a long period came at the wrong time for us because we had begun putting a good run together."
