Poole Borough (5) 6, Blandford United (0) 0. Dorset Premier League Saturday 17th September 2005 Borough Scorers: Anthony Warrington 2; David Perry 6, 19, 29; Dan Young 38; Lee James 69. Borough dominated from start to finish as they recorded an impressive fifth straight victory and following his decision to turn down a move to Hamworthy United, striker David Perry was in sparkling form, treating the home supporters to a first half hat-trick. The Hornets made the perfect start as Anthony Warrington opened the scoring within two minutes coming in late to steer home a high left wing cross from Danny Herrington at the far post. Four minutes later Warrington turned provider, sending Perry clear of the Blandford defence and the Borough striker ran through on the keeper before coolly converting. Borough's third came on 19 minutes, as Warrington again broke clear of the Blandford defence and unselfishly squared to an unmarked Perry to slot into an empty net. Perry capped his hat-trick on 29 minutes with a fine solo effort, running clear down the right before cutting inside and although his initial shot was blocked by the visiting keeper, he was first to the rebound to tuck the ball home. The Blandford keeper did well to push a Warrington strike past the post and on 37 minutes he also denied Dan Young after the Borough midfielder got a shot in on the turn. However within a minute Young netted his first senior goal for the Hornets, running on to a perfect through ball from Tony White before beating the keeper with a low angled drive. Half Time 5-0 Borough continued in the same vein immediately after the break with an early chance for Warrington who strike went just over and Scott Bedward also saw his drive clear the bar after latching on to the loose ball after a shot from Perry was blocked. On 51 minutes Lee James rode two tackles as he jinked into the area but his final shot was palmed away by the Blandford keeper. Blandford however looked better organised in the second half also created made inroads into the Borough half, their best chance a well worked move which ended with a shot just past the post. Borough were awarded a penalty after Warrington was brought down in the area but Tony White saw his spot kick well saved. But Borough finally increased their lead on 79 minutes as the Blandford keeper came out of his area to clear a through ball with Aaron Woldon bearing down but it was picked up by James just inside the right touch line and he sent back a long range lob from fully 30 yards out into the empty net. Perry and Warrington were withdrawn earlier in the half and Dan Cockwell came on to make his 100th Borough appearance but their was no rest bite for the visiting defence and on the stroke of full-time Woldon came within a whisker of netting after he made a strong run down the left and cutting inside before his shot from a narrow angle went just past the far post Borough: Dan Burton, Matt Welsh (Dan Cockwell 69), Tony White, Scott Orchard, Sean Hebdon, Danny Herrington, Scott Bedward, Dan Young, David Perry (Aaron Woldon 63), Lee James, Anthony Warrington (Shane Stanley 63). |
