(3) 4, Poole Borough (3) 5. Dorset Premier League Saturday 31st December 2005 Borough Scorers: David Perry 3, 45, 47; Simon Edwards 32; Alex Jones 79. David Perry collected his fifth hat-trick of the season as Borough notched up victory by the odd goal in nine in an entertaining goal fest at the County Ground. Borough took the lead after only three minutes as Perry collected the ball in space at the edge of the area before deftly lobbing the ball over Max Frampton in the home goal. On 8 minutes Perry put a neat flick into the path of Simon Edwards but Frampton did well to palm the resulting shot away. The Hammers though equalised on 18 minutes as the Borough defence failed to cut out a free kick whipped in from the left and the ball fell to Dan Bagualy to rifle home. Two minutes later a left wing cross picked out Karanjit Aujla in front of goal but the Hamworthy striker put his shot the wrong side of the post, however within a minute the United pressure paid off as a Borough defensive clearance was picked up by Reece Dear whose low shot beat Stuart Amey just inside his near post. Edwards put Borough back on equal terms on the half hour with a superb solo run which took him past two defenders before lifting the ball over the advancing Frampton. But three minutes before the break the Hammers benefited from a Borough defensive error with Aujla picking up a misplaced pass to run through and convert. There was still time before the interval for Perry to put Borough level again as he muscled his way between two defenders to latch onto a through ball and dispatch an unstoppable shot. Half Time 3-3 Within two minutes of the restart, Borough were back in the lead as Dan Young was upended in the area and Perry duly converted the resulting penalty. There was no let-up as chances continued to be created at both ends, the best falling to the home side as first Aujlia shot wide with Amey out of his goal and later Baguley broke through the Borough offside trap but his final shot was off target. As the half progressed, the game swung back in Borough's favour as on 70 minutes Perry just failed to convert an Alex Jones free kick in front of goal and a minute later Perry whipped in a cross from wide on the right which was met by Matt Bircumshaw 5 yards out but he steered his shot just the wrong side of the upright. Borough gave themselves the all important two goal cushion on 79 minutes as following a good passing move down the right the ball was fed inside to Edwards who slid the ball into the path of Jones to drill home. Five minutes from full time Borough had a goal disallowed as Perry was adjudged to be offside when he converted a right wing cross from Jones, while Hamworthy pulled a goal back in injury time courtesy of a Bagualy penalty after the referee spotted a push in the area.. Borough: Stuart Amey, Shaun Clarke (Matt Welsh 64), Tony White, Danny Neville, Sean Hebdon, Dan Young (Ben Truan 64), Simon Edwards, Andy Barham, David Perry, Alex Jones, Matt Bircumshaw.
