Borough Scorers: Lee James 3; Danny Chapple 65, 86.

Borough recorded their third successive victory and the first clean sheet of the campaign at Days Park, but the score line flattered the Hornets as with some better finishing the home side may well have collected at least a share of the points.

The Hornets had the best possible start after only three minutes and a swift passing move out of defence sent Lee James clear down the left channel and the former Swans striker finished impressively with a low shot just inside the far post.

Gary Fooks went close on 11 minutes with a dipping shot from outside the area which went just over, but it was Swanage who had the best of the possession as the Borough defence were pressured by a series of high balls which the home strikers fed off of to fashion out chances. It was from one of these attacks on 17 minutes that Swanage carved out a break down the right and the resulting centre was headed just wide of the near post.

On 25 minutes Scott Orchard got his head to a Tony White corner at the far post which just cleared the crossbar, but at the other end the Borough defence were stretched again and after a goal mouth scramble following a low centre from the left they were finally able to scramble the ball clear.

Ten minutes before the break came Swanage's best chance of the half as Scott Bedward was dispossessed wide on the left touch line as he looked the shepherd the ball out for a goal kick and the resulting cross into the penalty box seemed destined to be turned in by a one of a number of home strikers lined up for the chance but the final effort was somehow diverted off the line by a Borough defender..

Half Time 0-1

Four minutes after the restart Borough were again forced to scramble the ball clear from a Swanage corner, but the Hornets immediately went down the other end and were awarded a free kick following a foul on Bedward wide on the right which Tony White floated in to the area and Ben Truan just failed to get his head to after alluding his marker.

Borough continued to find their hosts an handful on the break but they finally created some breathing space on 65 minutes when Danny Chapple latched onto a forward pass down the left and turned the home defender before cutting inside and hitting a shot from the edge of the area which took a deflection to leave the home keeper stranded as it curled just inside the right hand post.

Back came Swanage and a home striker rose above the Borough defence to connect to a high centre from the left with a powerful header but Dan Burton kept the ball out with a superb one handed save. On 72 minutes a Borough attack broke down and again Swanage moved the ball forward quickly down the left and the final cross to a home striker at the near post was dragged narrowly wide of the target.

This stung Borough into action and a minute later Lee James got down the left and he picked out Truan in front of goal but his downward header was palmed away by the home keeper. As the home side tired Borough finally began to get back into their stride and four minutes from time the Swanage defence failed to cut out a low right wing cross from James and Chapple steered the ball home to make the game safe.

Borough: Dan Burton, Matt Weksh, Tony White, Gary Fooks, Scott Orchard, Danny Herrington, Scott Bedward, Andy Barham, Ben Truan, Lee James, Danny Chapple (Sean Hebdon 86). Unused subs: Marc Vincent, Shane Stanley.
