Borough Scorers: David Perry 11, 21, 67; Gary Fooks 34.

Borough progressed into the last 16 of the Senior Cup with an improved performance in difficult windy conditions, David Perry leading the way with his first hat-trick of the season.

Borough came close to opening the scoring on 6 minutes when Sean Hebdon just failed to turn in a Tony White right wing corner at the near post. However five minutes later another White flag kick was met with a glancing header from close range by Perry to put Borough one up.

With Borough having the best of the conditions in the first half, Wareham were restricted in their forays forward, but on 16 minutes the Hornets had a let off when quick through ball alluded the visiting defence but with no home striker able to latch on to the pass it went harmlessly wide.

On 20 minutes Andy Barham found some space on the right hand side of the area, but his low cross was scrambled clear for a corner. However from the resulting set piece Perry again found space to execute a downward header which gave Gavin Damer in the home goal no chance.

With previous encounters at Wareham in mind, Borough created a vital cushion on 34 minutes as a deflected clearance ran into the path of Anthony Warrington on the right hand edge of the area and he drilled in a low cross which Gary Fooks steered home from 5 yards out.

In the final minutes of the half Wareham began to make in roads and Stuart Amey did well to collect a dipping long range free kick and also executed a superb point blank save a minute from the break, although play was subsequently pulled back for an offside decision.

Half Time 0-3.

With the wind now in their favour, Rangers looked a lot stronger after the break and pinned Borough back for the initial period, although goal attempts were at a premium, James Heckford finding space to shoot across goal in 49 minutes while Amey was equal to a long range free kick on 60 minutes.

Borough however sealed the tie on 67 minutes as Simon Edwards floated a high cross in from wide on the right and Perry converted with a powerful header at the far post.

With Borough beginning to gain the upper hand once more Paul Getley battled well down the left before his final shot was blocked by Damer and Dan Young fed Perry from the right but Borough's top scorer was off balance and put his final shot wide.

With 10 minutes remaining Rangers collected a consolation goal as Heckford was picked out in space on the left and he deftly lobbed Amey from 20 yards out. However Borough were denied a fifth deep in injury time as Shaun Clarke go a foot to a low corner from the right but the ball came back off the post.

Borough: Stuart Amey, Matt Welsh, Tony White, Gary Fooks, Sean Hebdon (Danny Young), Danny Herrington (Shaun Clarke), Scott Orchard, Andy Barham (Paul Getley), David Perry, Anthony Warrington, Simon Edwards.
