Dorset Premier League
Saturday 10th March 2007

Ross Mills came off the bench to earn Borough a draw with a goal three minutes from time to extend the Hornets unbeaten league run to four games.

Borough had the best of the early exchanges and on six minutes Sean Leaton got his head to an Andy Barham free kick which went just over while a minute later Simon Hasted in the visitors goal failed to hold onto a shot and James Stickland latched onto the loose ball and pulled it back to Shane Duggan whose shot was blocked on the line.

However against the run of play, the Gils took the lead when the Borough defence struggled to clear a free kick and Dan Cox pounced to tuck home the ball from close range.

Lee Thomas came close to equalising on 16 minutes as his looping header from a Barham free kick dropped just the wrong side of the post, but at the other end Barry Torrance beat Dog Shear to a through ball but his shot went narrowly wide.

Borough continued to respond positively before the break and there best chance to draw level came on 31 minutes Stickland battled well to win the ball of a defender wide on the left before picking out Thomas in space on the right but his first time shot hit the side netting.

Half Time 0-1

Duggan came close immediately after the interval after he latched on to a through ball which split the visitors defence, but his first time shot went wide.

However as the half progressed the Gills enjoyed the majority of possession without creating a clear chance until on 67 minutes they saw a goal bound shot from the right deflected wide, while a goal mouth scramble on 75 minutes saw Leaton make ground to execute a superb block in the line to deny a visiting forward.

With time running out the game began to open up and Borough capatalised on 87 minutes when Stickland shot from a left wing corner was cleared off the line, but the ball was turned back into the area and Mills headed home by the left hand post.

A minute later Shear kept his side in the game with a flying save to deny a shot from a corner while Stickland had a late chance to secure all three points for the Hornets in injury time after Duggan sent him clear, but Hasted stood his ground to make a fine block to deny the final shot.
