Dorset Premier League
Saturday 14th April 2007

Borough’s run of home games without a win continued as they lost to a Hamworthy United Reserves side they had put seven goals past the previous Saturday.

Borough looked as though they were going to carry on from last week when Thomas ran through in the first minute, but shot at the advancing keeper. Two minutes later Mills got in a powerful header from a corner but it was just wide of the post.

Thomas and Mills both had further chances when put through with only the keeper to beat but were unable to get the ball past him. Hamworthy replied with a low shot that Nash saved at the near post.

For all of Borough’s pressure it was the visitors who took the lead in the 41st minute when a long ball found Richard Keynes on the right who volleyed home.

Half Time 0-1

Shaun Leaton came on for Gary Williams at half-time and Borough were unlucky when a Russell free kick caused the Hamworthy defence problems. The same player had a shot that was parried by the keeper and a Mills attempt from the rebound was cleared off the line.

However when a Borough passing move broke down the Hammers came forward quickly and Paul Manning ran on to smash the ball past Nash into the top corner and increase their lead.

Mulvey came on for Hooper and his cross was netted but the referee ruled offside. Mulvey then tried to lob the keeper and a defender was forced to head the ball onto the bar. The game was held up for a number of injuries as Borough won a succession of corners.

Deep into added time a Barham corner was cleared back to him and his return went over the keeper’s head into the net. Borough pushed for an equaliser and the last chance of the game saw Stickland's overhead kick well saved by the keeper.
