Despite dominating much of the second half and hitting the woodwork twice, Borough had to settle for a draw in an entertaining encounter at Barnetts Field. With Paul Hubbard making the decision to retire following his injury the previous week against Portland United, Adam Nash made an assured return to the Borough goal which included a first half penalty save.

Early chances were at a premium until nine minutes from kick-off Nash was forced to palm away a volley by his right hand post, and the resulting corner was played back to James Ekless 25 yards out who fired an unstoppable drive into the top corner.

Borough came close on 17 minutes when a Paul Harding free-kick from wide on the right was headed down by Sean Hebdon to James Stickland who shot wide from close range. However Borough drew level two minutes later when Andy Barham threaded an inch perfect pass behind the home defence for Stickland latch onto and he took the ball past the keeper before slotting home.

The Cherries though responded positively and pinned Borough back for a significant period and when Nash punched away a corner the loose ball fell to a home striker who blazed the ball over. Worse was to come for Borough though on 36 minutes when Matt Morris was adjudged to have pushed a home striker in the area, but Nash did well to dive low to his right and block the resulting spot kick.

Half Time 1-1

Borough made two changes early in the second half with Ricky Mee and Steve Russell replacing Stickland and John Bates and began to take the game to their opponents, on 56 minutes Mee stole the ball off a defender on the edge of the area and got to the by-line, but there was no-one on hand to convert the resulting centre across goal. Two minutes later Ross Mills headed down a Barham free kick to Mee but the shot went wide.

On 67 minutes Harding saw his dipping free-kick tipped over the bar by the home keeper, but a minute later Nash was call into action, getting down well to block the ball after it was deflected goalwards from a free-kick.

However the majority of chances were still on the home goal and on 73 minutes Mee latched on to a through ball down the left before cutting inside and curling a shot past the keeper but the ball cannoned off the far post. Three minutes later, Mee found space down the right and his low centre across the penalty area picked out Russell whose shot struck the underside of the crossbar before bouncing to safety.

The Cherries still looked dangerous on the break and Paul Getely was forced to clear a free kick from under his cross bar on 81 minutes, but two minutes later Borough carved out another chance when a glancing header from Mills diverted a free kick into the path of Harding in front of goal, but his shot went the wrong side of the upright.

The last five minutes saw Borough continue to push for a winner with both Harding and Sean Hebdon going close, but Sturminster held on for a share of the points.
