Borough finished the season with their 11th draw when Sturminster Marshall equalised in the last minute of normal time to cap a disappointing season for the Hornets and somehow provide a reflection of the whole campaign.

The first chance of the game came for Borough as former Hornets keeper Paul Maitland was forced to punch away a Steve Russell free kick. However it was Sturminster who opened the scoring on eight minutes when they were awarded a free kick just outside the area and Fedjic Selimovic placed his shot past the wall and just inside the post.

On 18 minutes Borough had a let off when Sam Mason was put clear through but his final shot was off target and Mason again missed the target on 25 minutes when again through.

Borough came back and on 31 minutes Russell put Stickland in space, but the final shot went over. But the Hornets equalised on 33 minutes when Stickland latched onto an under hit back pass and unselfishly centred to substitute Aaron Woldon to sidefoot home.

The Hornets came close to taking the lead on the stroke of halftime when a cross from the right picked out Woldon but his shot was off target.

Half Time 1-1

It was Sturminster who started the second half on top as first they saw a shot clear the bar and later a header from a corner also went narrowly over. Borough brought on Doug Shear to replace Paul Harding as an outfield player and he made an almost immediate impact on 64 minutes getting behind the visiting defence to latch onto a deep right wing cross from Woldon to beat Maitland with a stooping header.

With Borough now on top, Shear continued to trouble the home defence and on 78 minutes he saw a low drive from outside the area flash just wide of the upright while two minutes later a close range shot also went narrowly wide.

With time running out Sturminster began to make inroads into the Borough defence and on 82 minutes a cross from the left picked out a visiting forward unmarked at the far post, but Adam Nash was across quickly to narrow the angle and the final shot flashed across the face of the goal and safely wide.

However when Sturminster were awarded a right wing corner in the final minute the flag kick picked out Daryl Williams at the far post who headed home. It could have been worse for Borough in injury time as Sturminster broke away quickly down the left and the ball was centerd to Williams who shot over with the goal at his mercy.
