MATCH REPORTS
| Updated 29/07/07 | Poole Borough (1) 2, Brockenhurst (0) 1. Pre-Seson Friendly Saturday 28th July 2007 Wayne Robbins made his Borough debut between the sticks while former Bashley midfielder Remel Williams impressed in right midfield as Borough provided a good crowd with a strong performance against a young Brock side. Borough had the best of the early exchanges and on 14 minutes Lee Diaper cut in from the left before pulling he ball back to Steve Russell, whose low shot struck the post. Two minutes later Scott Bedward won the ball in the centre circle and threaded a perfectly weighted ball into the path of Lee Thomas who coolly ran through and converted past the advancing keeper. There was a let-off on 18 minutes when the visitors broke down the left and a low cross from the by-line was met at the far post, but the shot went wide. But at the other end Williams came close for Borough with a strong header, but the keeper did well to deny the chance. On 28 minutes Bedward again sent another superb through ball which opened up the Brockenhurst defence this time sending Ross Mills through, but the keeper was out quickly to deny the chance with his legs. Half Time 1-0. Borough made eight changes at the break, but the Hornets continued to control the game, and an early chance saw Kieran Campbell tee up Paul Leaton, but the keeper was on hand to block the shot. On 62 minutes Borough doubled their lead after Kieran Mulvey battled well to win the ball on the left before Shane Duggan took on the ball and broke towards the by-line and his shot from a narrow angle crept in at the far post. Five minutes later Duggan again got to the left by-line, before cutting the ball back to Campbell at the near post, but his shot was saved by the upright. Brockenhurst though pulled a goal back 10 minutes from time as they capitilised on a defensive error to convert an easy chance. But Borough continued to push forward and Dan Young got on the end of a Campbell cross whipped in from the right but his glancing header went narrowly wide, while on 86 minutes the visiting keeper did well to pluck out a Mulvey free-kick destined for the top right hand corner However Brockenhurst came close to levelling in the final minute, but Doug Shear did well to block a low shot by his left hand post. Poole
Borough (0) 0, Borough had a good workout against a mixed Dolphins side of Under 18's and more experienced players, well marshalled by former Borough defender Danny Neville. The Hornets had the best of the first half chances and on 19 minutes Shane Duggan forced a fine save from the visiting keeper to deny a bullet header. On 32 minutes, the Town keeper was again in action to palm away a stooping header from Darren Rudd but a minute later Doug Shear was forced to make a good block by his right hand post to deny a shot from a narrow angle. Just before the break Jamie Holland sent Lee Thomas clear on the right but the Borough striker shot wide. It was Town though who took the lead two minutes after the break when the Borough defence failed to cut out a through ball leaving a visiting forward clear to dispatch a clinical finish. Kieran Mulvey nearly put Borough level five minutes later with a long range dipping shot which the keeper did well to divert over the bar. Town though began to take the initiative as Borough began to tire and doubled their lead on 71 minutes when the Hornets struggled to clear a low cross into their area and the loose ball was slotted home by the right hand post. Borough's Adam Watson broke clear down the left and saw his low shot blocked by the keeper and the loose ball came out to Scott Bedward whose shot went over. Borough did have the ball in the next in the final minutes as Phil Midson converted the loose ball after the Town keeper blocked another low drive but he was adjudged to have been offside.
